01 · THE CHALLENGE

Choosing hair online comes with questions.

Tressed explored how people could choose wigs, bundles and extensions with a clearer sense of how a style might look on them. Face shape, colour, length and personal preferences all influenced the decision.

02 · THE SHARED APPROACH

Connect discovery, preview and purchase.

I collaborated on the product design. The shared approach combined a face scan, guided preference questions, personalised recommendations and an AR preview, with a path into shopping.

Guide the first step

Introduce scanning and preference questions in approachable language.

Focus on the preview

Keep the interface around the hair preview uncluttered.

Connect to shopping

Make it possible to move from a chosen style to product details and purchase.

03 · PROJECT FOCUS

Make the technology understandable.

The design goal was to make AI and AR feel approachable within a familiar shopping experience. The screens connect discovery and visualisation to a familiar shopping flow.

04 · REFLECTION

Make the preview feel personal.

The AR experience was planned to be hard coded, so I researched how best to represent wigs on users during a virtual try on. I wanted the preview to make the style easy to picture while working within that implementation approach.

With an audience made up mostly of women, I also explored playful wording and polished visuals that suited the product’s fashion and beauty context. The aim was to make choosing a wig feel inviting while keeping the journey clear.
